Splake hunters 2017 include (left to right):
Flint, Dr. O., Wrong Way, Jake le Snake, Tight Line, Dunk-A-Lew, Demon and the Brent Giant.

Thanks one and all for another great adventure in the wilds of Algonquin Park.

Only the sounds of loons to break the stillness as night approaches.

Demon looks cautiously at the trout feast Dr. O is consuming. Best not get too close.

Eating in style.

Dinner.

Can't see the lure, but it was a prize lure from years past that helped Tight Line catch a trout. The lure looks like a school of fish.

More relaxing by the fire. We had a sheltered site with plenty of wood.

Rings of fire... perhaps we can use this image for a Wrong Ways's Hot Sauce label.

Loads of fun navigating the Alder grove this year.

We left a rope for the boys to pull themselves over the beaver dam.

Helping hand from Tight Line. The beavers were making our trek in and out challenging.

The brothers enjoying a trout meal... while in the background, Tight Line is swallowing a fish bone.

It wouldn't be a Splake Hunter camp without the traditional 'SPAM' meal.

I think we ate half a cow on this trip.

Tight Line thought he was dreaming. We found a new pork barrel.... just ropin' em.

A little butter, lemon... these trout tasted heavenly.

Cousins... wondering why they hafta sleep outside without a tent.

Dunk-A-Lew finally gets his stove to light.

Having difficulty keeping up with the Brent Giant`s exceptional angling skills... Tight Line takes to drinking.

Not another word about my COOKING!

Just a small sampling of what the lake has to offer... the middle brookie was caught by the Brent Giant, the other two are small lakers caught by Tight Line. The one that got away was simply a MONSTER FISH!

He was with us before, but this Splake Hunter is now known as 'DEMON'... apparently he is ok with that.

Relaxing by the fire... when the sun sank and the stars came out the black flies are just a distant memory.

A storm was coming... we could feel the temperature drop and hear the deep rumbling thunder in the distance across the lake.

Breakfast the next day... the maple syrup was left on the counter back at Wrong Way's house beside the potatoes.

The hat at this point is purely ornamental.

Dr. O and the two young lads slept under a tarp... they rolled down the hill in their sleep, but the trees stopped them from hitting the water. It snowed that night...

One fish, two fish, three fish... blue fish?...huh, didn`t see that one coming.

Dunk-A-Lew shares his secrets on picking fine booze for the medical kit.

Jake le Snake takes a much earned rest after cutting many piles of wood with Flint.

Tight Line working the shallows below the beaver dam... at least we didn't loose too many lures.

The water levels were a little high this year and the beavers were very active... this particular 'honey hole' did not produce for us this year though.

The Huron Paddle was back in action this year... it almost saved us from a curtain of water that was charging down the lake ahead of a thunder storm on the first day... almost.

Part of the feast we gorged ourselves on this time around... Tightline is considering partaking in the WrongWay delicacies for the first time in like...EVER!

The landing site at Dead Moose Point was fine. There is a steep, root infused hill to climb to get to the camp, but everyone navigated the terrain well.

Wrong Way taking some time out to enjoy his favourite 'Hardy Boy Mystery'.

Dr. O's tripod invention is amazing for keeping your steaks at just the right distance from the flames for juicy cooking.

Dutch oven was at work again this year. Chocolate cherry dump cake and Apple vanilla dump cake were inhaled late in the evening... it took a while to get the temperature right.

Typical scene after feeding time... actually it's a typical scene at any time.

Typical scene at feeding time.

Flint's fork was flying at every meal.

Breakfast. The strips of Raccoon meat were even saltier than the bacon!

Wrong Way working his "Magic" in the camp kitchen.

Dr. O trying to down Wrong Way's breakfast... it just kept coming back up!

Aw common guys... not again! Farther away from camp PLEASE!

Tight Line is seen here listening to the trout feed just off shore of our camp. This Splake hunter has crazy skills.

Jake le Snake is seen here listening to one of the many long adventure stories from Wrong Way. ...a picture truly is worth a thousand words.

The weather was stormy on the way in and the first night we had a little snow so we kept the fire burning all day... is that green wood on the fire Dr. O?

Jake le Snake and Flint were back in action this year. They could be heard running through the bush just outside of view as they rummaged for fire wood.

Wrong Way enjoyed the forced new site selection. This year we stayed at "Dead Moose Point".
